Dr Alok Sharma
Dr Alok Sharma possesses decades of uninterrupted experience in the downstream energy sector. A Chemical Engineering alumnus of IIT-Delhi, he has made significant contributions to the Indian refining sector in Process, Projects, and Production. During his initial tenure at Gujarat Refinery, Dr Sharma played a pivotal role in establishing India’s First Hydrocracker Unit from 1994-97.
With a visionary approach to catalyze IndianOil’s ambitions, he spearheaded Refining, catalyst, research and development endeavors in hydrogen, gasification, solar, biofuels, CO2 capture, and energy storage technologies. Dr Sharma has over 60 granted patents to his credits which covers both India as well as other geographies.
Recipient of the Endeavour’s Fellowship Award by the Government of Australia in 2009, Dr. Alok Sharma is a recognized expert in the energy sector. He actively participates in various national and international committees, advocating for alternative and renewable energy solutions.
Dr Sharma superannuated as Director (R&D) from IndianOil Corporation Ltd.. He also served as board member of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Government of India and Oil Industry Development Board (OIDB), Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India. He was also Chair of CII National committee Subgroup on Future Biofuels: Biofuel Technology and Innovation.
As a distinguished career scientist, Dr. Sharma has garnered numerous accolades, including the ICMA Award 2002 and the World Petroleum Congress Excellence Award 2008 for development of Indigenous Hydroprocessing Technologies. His achievements also include winning the prestigious FIPI Innovation Award and CHT Innovation Award in 2014 for the Commercialization of Co-Processing Non-Edible Oils in Diesel Treating units
